It all began on Easter Sunday, April 10, 2010 at the Brodnax Center with only a hand full of members. But through God’s grace, within four months, the church found a new home at 34 Bolton Avenue, Suite 10. The Church was blessed to purchase chairs for the congregational seating, to design and purchase items for the pulpit, to purchase musician and sound equipment, and the necessary supplies needed for a sanctuary. God’s blessings and vision for God’s House of Prayer didn't stop there. On July 29th , 2011 our congregation moved into our current location of 16 Bolton Avenue.
Our church family endured over the past 13 years, but moreover, it has progressed. The membership role is one sign of progression, it has grown to more than 290 members. And the Lord is still adding to the church as He see fit, because no man comes unless the Spirit draws. Not only is the membership role a sign of progress, but the surest sign of progression is adding souls to the Body of Christ. God’s House of Prayer Ministry has been blessed to have baptized 4 parishioners in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, this year.
Daily we continue to strive to deliver souls. Every Monday through Thursday at 12 noon we have prayer service. Church services are every Friday night at 7pm and Sunday morning at 11am. We have Tarry service every Monday night at 6pm, Wednesday night Bible Study at 7pm, and every 4th Thursday of the month we have our Women's Conference. We have our Sunday School Program for our adults and youth which starts at 9:30am every Sunday. We have been blessed to form the following choirs over the years, GHOP Praise team, and Anointed Vessels of God. All singing to glorify and edify the name of Jesus. To keep the church running in a descent and orderly fashion, we have Adult Ushers. They are all working together to keep the Spirit of the Lord flowing in the atmosphere. We now have an up and running website for the church. We have established an Outreach for the elderly of the church, Helping Hands Ministry for the homeless, and our Annual Women's Conference. One June 1, 2014, God’s House of Prayer Ministry ordained our 1st Deacon with many more to come. On January 28, 2018, God’s House of Prayer ordained Sis Joyce Gallow as Prophetess Joyce Gallow. On February 2, 2020 Deacon Andrew Davis was ordained as Pastor Andrew Davis, ,Sis Annie as Evangelist Annie Wardsworth, and February 28 2021, God’s House of Prayer ordained Sis. Corise Baker as Minister Corise Baker. Minister Gandy was ordained under Apostle Blake in 2016 and Minister Miles was ordained by Apostle Barbara and Pastor Lowe, from Monticello, MS in 2013.
Each 2nd Saturday of each month, we hold a Community Outreach. During this time we open our doors to the community, and bless families that are in need of clothes, household goods, toys, food and we even serve free meals. We find this endeavor to be very rewarding and gratifying to those we bless. To see the excitement on a child’s face or a mother in tears, because God stepped in and answered her prayers, is truly heartfelt. Our Lord and Savior has truly blessed God’s House of Prayer Ministry and our mission is to share our blessings. We know God has a plan for us and we are not done yet.
We touched briefly on the past, but let’s focus on the future. We at God’s House of Prayer Ministry know that God wants us to go to higher heights and to not just stop where we are. God has been a blessing to this ministry for 13 years with more to come. 16 Bolton Avenue is just a temporary home before God takes us to where we need to be. We broke ground on our new sanctuary on May 23, 2022. While waiting on that process, we will continue to do what God called us to do and that is to be helpers one to another.
